India Shocked: 4,271 Voters Registered at a Single House in Mahoba — AAP Demands Probe into Voter Roll ‘Scam’

New Delhi, September 16, 2025 – In a sensational revelation that has stirred political debate across India, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Sanjay Singh has alleged massive irregularities in voter rolls in Uttar Pradesh’s Mahoba district. According to Singh, as many as 4,271 voters have been registered under a single house number in one village — a figure that he says is impossible, given that the entire village has around 16,000 voters.

Singh called the incident yet another example of “vote chori” (vote theft), claiming similar cases had earlier been discovered in Mahadevpura where hundreds of voters were shown at two different houses. He accused the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Election Commission of complicity, alleging that such errors could influence upcoming elections and undermine democratic credibility.

However, officials have responded, attributing the anomaly to a clerical error during the ongoing voter list revision for the 2026 panchayat elections. They explained that three separate wards were mistakenly tagged to the same house number (House No. 803), resulting in thousands of names being aligned under a single address.

“House numbers are often inconsistently recorded in rural areas. The voters themselves are genuine — it is the address data that was wrongly merged and is now being corrected,” a senior official clarified. The State Election Commission of Uttar Pradesh has assured that corrections are underway and the final list will reflect accurate voter data.

Despite the clarification, AAP has demanded a full investigation and audit of voter rolls across the state to ensure free and fair elections. “Such discrepancies raise serious questions about the integrity of our electoral system,” Singh said.

The issue has once again drawn national attention to the accuracy of India’s voter registration process and the need for robust checks to prevent misuse or administrative lapses.
