Toronto Pearson Airport is closely monitoring a severe winter storm forecast to hit southern Ontario this weekend, with heavy snowfall expected to disrupt travel plans. Environment Canada has issued a winter storm warning for virtually the entire region, predicting up to 30 cm of snow by the end of the weekend.
In a statement posted on its X account (formerly Twitter), Pearson Airport warned travelers about potential flight delays and cancellations due to the adverse weather conditions. “We’re actively monitoring the forecast, with snow expected to begin in the next few hours and continue through the weekend,” the airport said. “We’ll provide updates throughout the weekend to keep passengers informed.”
The storm comes on a particularly busy travel day, with over 128,000 passengers scheduled to pass through the airport on approximately 930 flights this Saturday. Airport officials are urging travelers to check their flight status before heading to the airport and to allow extra time for their journeys due to expected road and air travel disruptions.
As the winter storm intensifies, Pearson Airport remains committed to ensuring the safety and convenience of its passengers while managing the challenges posed by the severe weather. Further updates will be shared as the situation develops.
