In a remarkable gesture of community spirit and generosity, William Osler Health System Foundation celebrated the largest philanthropic gift in Greenpark Group’s history with a special event at Brampton City Hall. Co-hosted by Shafqat Ali, MP and Mayor Patrick Brown, the event recognized the $12 million donation by Carlo and Angela Baldassarra of the Greenpark Group to support the construction of Brampton’s second hospital at Peel Memorial Centre for Integrated Health and Wellness.
Expressing gratitude, Shafqat Ali MP stated, “I was honoured to host William Osler Health System at City Hall to mark this transformational gift. My deepest thanks to Carlo and Angela Baldassarra and the Carangel Corporation for their unparalleled generosity. This donation will significantly contribute to expanding healthcare services in our community.”
The $12 million donation by Greenpark Group, through its philanthropic arm The Carangel Corporation, reflects the Baldassarra family’s commitment to enhancing local healthcare infrastructure. This funding will be instrumental in developing a new multi-storey patient tower and expanding emergency, outpatient, and mental health services at Peel Memorial, addressing the growing healthcare needs of one of Ontario’s fastest-growing regions.

Mayor Patrick Brown highlighted the impact of this gift, calling it “a historic milestone in achieving our vision for Brampton’s healthcare future.” Ken Mayhew, CEO of William Osler Health System Foundation, praised the Baldassarra family for their dedication to the community and underscored the importance of this project for Brampton’s residents.
The Carangel Corporation, named in honour of Carlo and Angela’s legacy, was established to ensure that the communities they have built continue to thrive with accessible and quality healthcare facilities. Carlo Baldassarra emphasized, “Without health, nothing else matters, and we are proud to support this critical project for Brampton.”
The donation, alongside the record-breaking $14 million raised at the Hockey Night in Brampton event earlier this year, marks a significant stride toward realizing a new hospital in Brampton
