Indian-American artist Chandrika Tandon has secured her first Grammy Award in the Best New Age, Ambient, or Chant Album category for her album Triveni. After a previous nomination, this year marks a milestone victory for the celebrated musician, business executive, and philanthropist.
Tandon, who collaborated on the album with South African flautist Wouter Kellerman and Japanese cellist Eru Matsumoto, is also widely recognized as the older sister of former PepsiCo CEO Indra Nooyi.
Reflecting on the monumental win, Tandon, who was born and raised in Chennai, shared her excitement in a backstage interview with the Recording Academy.
“It feels amazing! The category’s nominees were incredible, and winning this makes the moment even more special for us,” she said.
Tandon’s Triveni triumphed over a competitive lineup that included fellow Indian-origin nominees:
- Ricky Kej – Break of Dawn
- Anoushka Shankar – Chapter II: How Dark It Is Before Dawn
- Radhika Vekaria – Warriors of Light
- Ryuichi Sakamoto – Opus
The win highlights Tandon’s unique musical vision, blending global influences with deep spiritual undertones. As she takes home her first Grammy, she continues to make an indelible mark in the world of New Age and ambient music.
