In a bid to enhance community amenities, parts of Gage Park are set to undergo extensive renovations, including a revamped ice rink, landscaping improvements, and more. This ambitious $4.7 million revitalization project, spearheaded by the City of Brampton, marks a significant step forward in the park’s transformation.
The focus of the upcoming phase lies in upgrading the ice rink, slated to receive a new ice pad, state-of-the-art refrigeration system, and essential power upgrades. However, these much-needed enhancements come with a temporary inconvenience for park-goers, as certain sections will be closed off starting April 8.
Anticipated to last until at least November, the closures will impact regular park activities, prompting the relocation of annual events to alternate community spaces for the year. Despite these disruptions, access to key attractions such as the playground, splash pad, and public washrooms will remain available throughout the construction period.
This initiative follows Brampton City Council’s approval in March 2022, authorizing city staff to initiate procurement processes for the ice pad replacement and piping upgrades. A subsequent budget amendment of $1,860,000 paved the way for the comprehensive park revitalization, encompassing additional rink improvements, walkway resurfacing, and the installation of landscape irrigation systems.
While the temporary closures may inconvenience some, the long-term benefits promise to enrich the Gage Park experience for residents and visitors alike, reaffirming Brampton’s commitment to community well-being and recreational infrastructure.
