Vice President JD Vance is gearing up for a trip to India this month with Second Lady Usha Vance in tow, marking his second foreign venture since stepping into the role, Politico reports, citing three sources in the know.
Fresh off his France-Germany swing last month, Vance’s upcoming journey holds special weight for Usha. Her parents, Krish and Lakshmi Chilukuri, immigrated from India to the US in the late ’70s, and this will be her first time visiting their native land as second lady.
The duo’s story began at Yale Law School, where they met. Usha, a legal dynamo, clerked for Chief Justice John G. Roberts and Judge Brett Kavanaugh—pre-Supreme Court days—after earning a Yale BA and a Cambridge master’s as a Gates scholar.
As Vance builds his VP legacy, this India visit blends diplomacy with a personal homecoming, promising a high-profile chapter in their shared journey.
