Cher, Lady Gaga, and More to Perform at SNL’s 50th Anniversary Homecoming Concert
“Saturday Night Live” is pulling out all the stops for its 50th anniversary celebration, and the star-studded “SNL50: The Homecoming Concert” is set to be a highlight of the festivities. Hosted by Jimmy Fallon at New York’s Radio City Music Hall, the three-hour event will feature an unforgettable lineup of musical legends and comedy icons, streaming live on Peacock this Friday at 8 p.m. Eastern and 5 p.m. Pacific.
The concert boasts a jaw-dropping roster of performers, including Cher, Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus, Snoop Dogg, Dave Grohl, Ms. Lauryn Hill, St. Vincent, and Wyclef Jean. They’ll join an already impressive list of artists such as Bad Bunny, The Roots, Arcade Fire, Backstreet Boys, Bonnie Raitt, Brandi Carlile, Chris Martin, and David Byrne. With surprises expected, the night promises to be a once-in-a-lifetime experience for fans.
But the celebration isn’t just about music. “SNL” alumni and luminaries like Ana Gasteyer, Andy Samberg, Maya Rudolph, Paul Shaffer, Tracy Morgan, and Will Ferrell will also take the stage, adding their signature comedic flair to the event. Produced by “SNL” creator Lorne Michaels and Mark Ronson, the concert is a testament to the show’s enduring cultural impact.
The concert is part of a larger celebration of “SNL’s” 50th anniversary. On Sunday, NBC and Peacock will air “SNL50: The Anniversary Special,” a live broadcast from Studio 8H featuring more musical performances and comedy sketches. Additionally, Questlove’s documentary, Ladies and Gentlemen… 50 Years of SNL Music, explores the show’s rich musical legacy and is now streaming on Peacock.
Reflecting on the show’s influence, Questlove told The Associated Press, “Watching ‘SNL’ those first seasons gave me a musical vocabulary that I don’t think would have happened on its own.”
As “SNL” marks this monumental milestone, the Homecoming Concert and anniversary special are poised to celebrate the show’s unparalleled contributions to music, comedy, and pop culture. Whether you’re a longtime fan or a newcomer, this weekend’s events are not to be missed.
