A fourth man charged in a high-profile kidnapping and attempted murder case involving a brutally beaten Mississauga victim has been granted bail under strict conditions.
Manraj Mann, 31, of Brampton, was released Wednesday after three family members pledged a total of $250,000. His bail conditions include house arrest, 24-hour supervision by sureties and a GPS ankle monitor. Justice Laura Bird approved the release, describing it as “as tight a bail as can be fashioned.”
Mann’s bail terms mirror those of co-accused Surjit Singh Bains, 63, of Woodbridge, who was granted bail earlier this week after a review. Two other accused — Baltej Sandhu, 30, and Dwayne Pennant, 41, both of Brampton — were previously released on similar conditions.
The only accused still in custody is Gergy Anthony Gorburn, 51, of Toronto, who remains jailed due to a lengthy criminal record.
Police allege the five men were arrested in late September at an abandoned Orillia gas station, where officers found a Mississauga man bound and severely beaten. All five face charges including attempted murder, kidnapping, forcible confinement, breaking and entering and weapons offences.
The case remains under a publication ban, and all allegations have not been tested in court.
