Peel Regional Police have charged four additional individuals in connection with a disturbing series of violent robberies that targeted South Asian and 2SLGBTQ+ victims in Brampton earlier this year. The attacks, which occurred between April and May 2025, involved luring victims through social media under false pretenses, followed by in-person robberies, including some incidents involving firearms.
Two suspects, Abhijot Singh (20), of Brampton, and Ridhampreet Singh (21), of Mississauga, were arrested on May 31, 2025, and charged in relation to the robberies.
Subsequently, on July 4, Peel police executed multiple search warrants across the region, resulting in the arrest of Hardil Singh Mehrok (18), of Brampton, and two additional suspects—a 16-year-old male and a 17-year-old male—both of whom are protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. These three individuals face multiple serious charges, including robbery and kidnapping, and are currently in custody pending bail hearings.

An arrest warrant has also been issued for Preetpal Kooner (20), of Mississauga, who remains at large.
According to police, investigators have strong reason to believe the suspects specifically targeted individuals based on their ethnic and gender identities, exploiting online platforms to lure victims to isolated locations where they were threatened, robbed, and in some cases physically harmed.
The Crown Attorney’s Office is now reviewing the case to assess whether the offences qualify as hate-motivated crimes, which could result in additional charges under Canada’s Criminal Code.
Peel Regional Police are urging anyone with information related to these incidents or the whereabouts of Preetpal Kooner to contact investigators immediately. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through Peel Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or online at www.peelcrimestoppers.ca.
These arrests reflect Peel Police’s continued commitment to community safety and to holding those accountable who commit acts of violence and intimidation based on race, gender, or sexual orientation.
