Four Men Charged in Connection to Multiple Shootings in Mississauga and Brampton

Four men have been charged in connection to four separate shootings in Mississauga and Brampton. Two of the men face attempted murder and various other serious charges, while the other two have been charged with lesser offences. These charges follow a detailed investigation that linked a December 2023 nightclub shooting in Mississauga to three earlier incidents.

Peel Regional Police reported on Friday that they believe the December 10th shooting in the parking lot of Jungle Event Space is connected to three shootings that occurred earlier in the fall.

The nightclub shooting took place around 2:30 a.m. outside the Eglinton Avenue East/Dixie Road venue. A 33-year-old man with no fixed address and a 38-year-old man from Vaughan were targeted. The 33-year-old sustained serious injuries, while the other man was unharmed. The suspects fled the scene in a car.

“This incident stemmed from an earlier altercation inside the venue,” police stated. The subsequent investigation linked this shooting to three other incidents in Mississauga and Brampton during October and November.

Following an investigation named Project Darien, police executed search warrants at four GTA homes and several vehicles on February 14. Multiple firearms were recovered, and several arrests were made.

Charged Individuals:

  • Romel Bhagwandin, 22, of no fixed address: Attempted murder using a firearm, discharge firearm with intent, numerous firearm offences, and aggravated assault.
  • Adrian Persad-Orr, 25, of Toronto: Attempted murder using a firearm, discharge firearm with intent, various firearm charges, and two counts of failing to comply with a release order.
  • Victor Thevasahayam, 23, of Mississauga: Charged with being an occupant of a motor vehicle knowing there was a firearm.
  • Joshua Edger, 21, of Brampton: Charged with being an occupant of a motor vehicle knowing there was a firearm and two counts of possession of property obtained by crime.

Bhagwandin and Persad-Orr are being held pending bail hearings in Brampton court, while Thevasahayam and Edger will appear in court at a later date.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact police at 905-453-2121, ext. 1233, or Peel Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477.

In a separate incident, a 19-year-old woman from North York was shot and killed outside Jungle Event Space on December 31. The club has been closed since the incident, and police are still searching for her killer.
