The holiday season will once again bring a dose of family fun to Florida’s fairways as golf legends and their loved ones tee up for the 2025 PNC Championship at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club this December 8–11. Known for its relaxed yet competitive spirit, the 54-hole scramble event—formerly the Father/Son Challenge—features 20 teams made up of major champions and their family members vying for the $200,000 top prize.
Reigning champions Bernhard Langer and his son Jason are set to defend their 2024 title, having edged out Tiger Woods and his son Charlie in a dramatic sudden-death playoff last year. However, fans hoping for another Woods family appearance will be disappointed this time—Tiger and Charlie will not be in the field. Woods, 49, recently underwent his seventh back surgery, a disc replacement in September, and is still recovering. Although speculation swirled about a possible return, medical experts suggest he’ll likely remain sidelined until at least 2026.
Despite Tiger’s absence, the tournament still boasts an impressive lineup. Returning favorites include John Daly and his son John Daly II, who have become fan favorites for their colorful style and big drives. LPGA icon Annika Sorenstam will also join the field once again with her son Will McGee. Other confirmed participants include Padraig Harrington with his son Paddy, Vijay Singh and Qass Singh, Trevor Immelman and Jacob Immelman, Lee Trevino and Daniel Trevino, Steve Stricker and Izzi Stricker, Matt Kuchar and Cameron Kuchar, and David Duval with Brady Duval.
The PNC Championship has become a beloved end-of-year spectacle that blends light-hearted family bonding with flashes of elite-level golf. While Tiger Woods’ absence will surely be felt, fans can look forward to seeing golf’s greatest families share the course—and a few laughs—under the Florida sun.
