MISSISSAUGA — Peel Regional Police are searching for four suspects following a robbery at a Mississauga grocery store where an employee was assaulted and money was stolen.
The incident occurred on Dec. 13 at approximately 5:38 p.m. at Iqbal Foods, located at 4099 Erin Mills Pkwy., police said.
Security video circulating on social media shows a man seated behind glass at the store’s money exchange counter when a suspect wearing a black hoodie and partially covering his face jumps over the glass barrier. The suspect stumbles on the desk before punching the employee. A second individual attempts to climb over the barrier but retreats, while two others remain outside the counter area.
The employee tries to prevent the remaining suspects from entering and is struck again. One of the suspects then grabs items from the counter before all four flee the area.
Video footage shows at least a dozen customers inside the store at the time of the robbery. After the suspects left, several people approached to assist the injured employee.
Peel Regional Police Const. Tyler Bell-Morena said four people entered the store, climbed over the glass enclosure, assaulted the employee, and stole cash before fleeing in a waiting vehicle.
Police said the employee did not suffer any lasting injuries.
Investigators are looking for four male suspects. Two were dressed entirely in black and wearing black masks. A third suspect was wearing a black jacket with fur trim, a blue hooded sweater, black pants, and white shoes. The fourth suspect was wearing all black with black-and-white shoes.
