Driver Attempts to Ram Police Cruiser in Mississauga, Faces Multiple Charges

A dramatic incident unfolded at Westwood Mall in Mississauga on Tuesday evening when the driver of a red Ford Bronco attempted to plow over a police cruiser after being surrounded by officers. The confrontation, captured in videos circulating on social media, shows the driver unsuccessfully trying to escape as police approached with guns drawn.

The incident occurred around 6:30 PM near Goreway Drive and Etude Drive, where Peel Regional Police officers were responding to reports of a suspicious vehicle. The driver, later identified as Ramanpreet Singh, 25, of Brampton, had allegedly been involved in a prior theft at a local store and returned with weapons, according to police.

Officers located the Ford Bronco at the Tim Hortons drive-thru in Westwood Mall (also known as Westwood Square). Upon discovering the vehicle had been reported stolen, police boxed it in, attempting to prevent the driver from fleeing. Singh made an unsuccessful attempt to drive over a police cruiser in his escape effort, causing damage to both the cruiser and another nearby vehicle. No injuries were reported.

Singh was arrested and is now facing multiple charges, including three counts of possession of property obtained by crime, flight from a peace officer, dangerous operation of a vehicle, and obstructing a peace officer. He was held for a bail hearing.

This incident highlights a continued focus on addressing vehicle-related crimes in the region, as Peel Regional Police remain vigilant in maintaining public safety.
