Dirty Dishes and Risky Fridges: Two Mississauga Eateries Flagged for Safety Slip-Ups

Peel Public Health inspectors have put two Mississauga restaurants on notice after uncovering food safety lapses during recent checks of local dining spots, bars, bakeries, and beyond.

Indian Sweet Master Faces Heat
Indian Sweet Master, at 4665 Central Pkwy. E., Unit 12, got a yellow card after a March 3 inspection. Peel Region’s report didn’t pull punches: hazardous food wasn’t kept out of the danger zone, with refrigeration and hot-holding gear falling short (critical risk)—a big no-no. The dishwasher? Not up to snuff—lacking proper design or NSF approval. And the ventilation system failed to clear out odors, fumes, and heat, leaving the kitchen in a haze.

Standard Sweets’ Sticky Situation
Over at Standard Sweets and Restaurant, 2877 Derry Rd. E., a Feb. 27 visit turned up a laundry list of issues. Food wasn’t stored cold or hot enough (significant risk), though they fixed contamination risks on the spot. Handwashing stations lacked supplies—sorted during the inspection—but non-food surfaces were grubby, pest defenses were weak (significant risk), and housekeeping was a mess. No records of pest control efforts either.

Peel Public Health’s program keeps tabs on food joints to keep you safe. A green pass means they’re aces under the Health Protection and Promotion Act. Yellow—like these two got—signals slip-ups, with risky stuff needing instant fixes. Red shuts the doors until dangers vanish. Want the full scoop?
