Diljit Dosanjh, known for his recent appearance in Crew, shared insights into his upbringing, revealing that he departed from his parents at a tender age. As the spotlight shines on his career successes, Dosanjh prepares to unveil the narrative of Amar Singh Chamkila, a young musician who rose to prominence in Punjab. As anticipation builds for the release of his film on Netflix, Dosanjh delves into his personal journey to fame, recounting his departure from his parental home and the subsequent distance that ensued.
In an interview with Ranveer Allahabadia, Dosanjh disclosed that he was sent to live with a relative at the age of eleven, a decision made without his consultation. “I was eleven years old when I left my home to live with my maternal uncle in Ludhiana,” he revealed. “My parents simply agreed to send me away without consulting me.”
Dosanjh admitted that financial constraints led him to limit communication with his family, leading to a gradual estrangement. “Living alone in a modest room, devoid of entertainment, I found myself detached from my family,” he explained. “With no access to mobile phones and the added expense of making calls, I unintentionally drifted apart from them.”
Despite the distance, Dosanjh expressed admiration for his parents, emphasizing their kindness and understanding. “I hold my mother in high regard, and my father is a gentle soul,” he affirmed. “While they didn’t inquire much about my daily life, their unconditional support remained unwavering. Unfortunately, the bond we once shared gradually faded, extending to other relationships as well.”
Dosanjh, lauded for his portrayal in Crew and his groundbreaking performance at Coachella, is poised for his next venture, Amar Singh Chamkila, alongside Parineeti Chopra. Set to premiere on Netflix on April 12, the film promises to captivate audiences with its compelling narrative.
Additionally, Dosanjh recently delighted fans with the release of the song “Tu Kya Jaane” from Amar Singh Chamkila, showcasing his chemistry with Chopra in AR Rahman’s soulful melody.
