Brampton, ON – Brampton Regional Councillor Rowena Santos has been reappointed for a third consecutive term as Chair of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities’ (FCM) Standing Committee on Municipal Finance, Infrastructure and Transportation.
This reappointment positions Councillor Santos to continue advancing priorities of national importance, including infrastructure investment, public transit, transportation networks, rail safety, telecommunications, municipal finance, and sustainable funding models. Her leadership ensures Brampton’s voice is strongly represented on the national stage while strengthening advocacy for municipalities across Canada.

Since joining the FCM Board of Directors in 2020, Councillor Santos has established herself as a national voice for municipal leadership. She has previously served as Vice-Chair of the Standing Committee on Anti-Racism and Equity and as a member of the Standing Committee on Increasing Women’s Participation in Municipal Government. Her reappointment is a recognition of her continued dedication to advancing sustainable, inclusive, and effective policies that benefit communities across the country.

The Standing Committee on Municipal Finance, Infrastructure and Transportation is one of FCM’s key policy bodies. It provides recommendations on infrastructure renewal, transit, rail safety, telecommunications, procurement, and sustainable municipal funding models. As Chair, Councillor Santos will lead efforts to shape federal-municipal collaboration and ensure Canada’s cities and communities have the tools to deliver essential services and build a stronger future.
About Councillor Rowena Santos
Elected in 2018, Councillor Santos proudly serves residents of Brampton’s Wards 1 & 5 and is the first Filipino elected to municipal council in Ontario. She holds an Honours BBA from York University’s Schulich School of Business and a Master’s in Sustainable Development and Environmental Planning from the London School of Economics. Recognized nationally, she has been named a Women of Influence honouree by Municipal World (2023) and a Municipal Trailblazer by FCM.
