Costco Expands Again: New Business Centre Opening in East Gwillimbury This December — Here’s What to Expect

EAST GWILLIMBURY — Costco is expanding its footprint in Ontario once again, with a new Costco Business Centre set to open next month in East Gwillimbury, just north of Toronto.

Located at 18182 Yonge Street, near Newmarket and Aurora, the site is being converted from a standard Costco warehouse into a full-scale Business Centre. The grand opening is scheduled for Saturday, December 6, according to Costco Canada.

This will be the fifth Costco Business Centre in Ontario, joining existing locations in Scarborough, St. Catharines, Gloucester, and Mississauga, the last of which opened on October 28.

What Makes a Business Centre Different?

Unlike a traditional Costco warehouse, a Costco Business Centre caters primarily to business owners, commercial kitchens, offices, and large households seeking high-volume products. The inventory focuses on bulk and commercial-grade items, including:

  • Multi-kilogram bags of frozen foods and ingredients
  • Extensive selections of meats, cheeses, and cooking oils
  • Commercial cleaning supplies and paper goods
  • Catering essentials like tableware, utensils, and storage containers

According to Food & Wine, Business Centres also stock exclusive food and beverage products not available at regular Costco stores — from industrial-sized juice and soda cases to restaurant-quality equipment.

However, members won’t find the typical Costco food court at these specialized locations. Instead, Business Centres emphasize efficiency, with earlier opening hours and next-day delivery services for business addresses.

Can Any Costco Member Shop There?

Yes — all Costco Gold Star and Executive members have full access to Business Centre locations. No additional membership or fee is required. Members can shop just as they would at a regular warehouse using their existing card.

Operating Hours

The East Gwillimbury Business Centre will operate on extended business hours:

  • Monday to Saturday: 7 a.m. – 6 p.m.
  • Sunday: 9 a.m. – 6 p.m.

With Ontario’s growing appetite for wholesale and small-business supplies, Costco’s latest expansion is expected to draw both entrepreneurs and families looking to stock up on high-volume essentials — just in time for the busy holiday season.
