Convicted Sex Offender and Club Promoter Mark Holland Facing New Sexual Assault Charges Still Working at Toronto Nightclub

A well-known Toronto nightclub promoter and registered sex offender, Mark Holland, is once again facing sexual assault charges — yet continues to work as a VIP host at Century nightclub on King Street West, the same venue where his previous assault took place.

According to TorontoToday, Holland, a longtime figure in the city’s nightlife scene, was arrested on August 18, 2025, and charged with three counts of sexual assault involving two women for alleged incidents that occurred on July 12. Toronto police confirmed that the Century nightclub was directly connected to the incidents.

Holland, now in his late 40s, was released on bail two days later, ordered to live with his mother, who pledged a $10,000 surety. Despite his history and pending charges, he continues to host VIP guests and promote events at Century.

Working at Same Club Linked to Previous Conviction

Holland was convicted in 2022 of sexually assaulting a woman in her twenties inside the same building — then known as Century Room — where he still works today. During that 2008 incident, Holland invited the victim on a “VIP tour” of a secluded area of the club before assaulting her.

He later texted the victim: “I’m sorry — you just looked so hot tonight.” The woman, referred to as N.K., testified that she developed PTSD after the assault.

A judge sentenced Holland to an eight-month conditional sentence to be served in the community, placed him under curfew, and added his name to the National Sex Offender Registry for 20 years.

New Allegations and Bail Controversy

The new allegations against Holland have reignited criticism of Canada’s bail system. Women’s safety advocate Cait Alexander, founder of End Violence Everywhere, condemned the decision to allow him to keep working in nightclubs.

“It is a disgrace that the offender’s right to work on bail is prioritized over the safety of women,” she said. “He should be banned entirely from venues where young women are in vulnerable situations.”

Court records show that Holland has repeatedly breached bail conditions in the past. In 2017, he was arrested at the U.S. border after traveling to California while under a travel restriction, spending 10 days in custody before being released under tighter supervision.

A Pattern of Legal Troubles

The 2025 charges are not Holland’s first since his 2022 conviction. Last year, he faced multiple allegations of assault, unlawful confinement, and harassment against another woman. That case was resolved in May 2025 when Holland signed a 12-month peace bond, agreeing to have no contact with the alleged victim and to “keep the peace.”

Toronto police believe he violated that peace bond with the alleged assaults in July.

Century Nightclub Under Scrutiny

Holland’s employment at Century nightclub — located at 580 King St. W. — has drawn sharp criticism from advocates and the public. The club’s owner, Zarak Fatah, did not respond to repeated requests for comment on Holland’s employment or the venue’s safety policies.

Despite his criminal record, Holland is often seen mingling with guests at Century’s VIP section, networking with patrons and staff. He actively promotes Century and nearby Escobar nightclub on Instagram, where he has more than 38,000 followers.

After his August arrest, he was seen vacationing in Greece and posting about “yacht days in Mykonos.”

Growing Calls for Reform

The case comes amid national debate on bail reform, with Prime Minister Mark Carney promising legislation to make it harder for repeat offenders — particularly those with violent or sexual assault convictions — to be released pending trial.

Legal expert Anna Matas, a partner at St. Lawrence Barristers, acknowledged the “real tension” in the law between protecting public safety and upholding the presumption of innocence.

However, for advocates like Alexander, the situation highlights a systemic failure. “Women should not have to risk encountering a convicted sexual offender while out enjoying nightlife,” she said. “Stay away from Mark Holland, stay away from Century nightclub, and always watch your drinks.”

Toronto police continue to investigate, and Holland’s next court appearance is expected later this month.
