On December 4, 2024, Member of Parliament Ruby Sahota hosted a meeting alongside Brampton MPs, and Regional Councillor Rowena Santos to discuss ongoing community safety initiatives. The meeting’s agenda covered updates on the enforcement of the Quarantine Act, COVID-19 road and traffic safety measures, and youth engagement programs.
MP Ruby Sahota emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts, stating, “Ensuring the safety and well-being of our community requires continuous dialogue and cooperation among all stakeholders.”
Regional Councillor Rowena Santos, representing Wards 1 and 5, highlighted the significance of proactive youth engagement in community safety. She remarked, “Youth engagement is critical for building safer neighborhoods. Through targeted programs, we are not just deterring negative behaviors but also creating opportunities for young people to thrive.”
She further added, “When our leaders come together like this, it reaffirms our commitment to the people of Brampton and ensures that every voice is heard in shaping a safer community.”
The Honourable Kamal Khera, Minister of Diversity, Inclusion and Persons with Disabilities, commended the multi-stakeholder approach, stating, “Addressing community safety effectively necessitates partnerships between government officials, law enforcement, and residents. Together, we can build a more inclusive and secure environment for all.”
MP Sonia Sidhu of Brampton South shared her thoughts on the discussion: “It was a productive session where we shared insights and worked together to find solutions that will ensure the safety and well-being of all residents in Brampton South and beyond. I remain committed to continuing dialogue and collaboration with all stakeholders.”
