The City of Brampton warmly invites residents and visitors to join in celebrating Lunar New Year and welcoming the Year of the Snake on Friday, January 31, at City Hall Atrium.
Lunar New Year is a significant cultural celebration for East and Southeast Asian communities, including Chinese, Vietnamese, and Korean cultures. This year’s event, held in collaboration with the Brampton Chinese Business Association (BCBA) and generously supported by Algoma University and Mandarin Restaurants, promises an evening of vibrant cultural activities and unity.

The celebration coincides with the beginning of the Lunar New Year on January 29, marking the Year of the Snake. Representing wisdom, intuition, and transformation, the Year of the Snake is one of the 12 zodiac animals celebrated in the lunar calendar.
Since 2019, the City of Brampton has proudly partnered with the BCBA to host annual Lunar New Year festivities, fostering connection and honoring cultural traditions within the community.
