City of Brampton is inviting residents, businesses and community organizations to submit nominations for the 2026 Grow Green Environmental Awards, celebrating local leadership and innovation in environmental protection and sustainability.
The awards recognize individuals and groups who are advancing Brampton’s Grow Green Vision through meaningful action, from conservation and waste reduction to climate awareness and community stewardship. City officials say the program highlights everyday efforts that help protect natural spaces, build resilience and strengthen neighbourhood wellbeing.
The Grow Green Environmental Awards will be presented during Brampton’s 2026 Grow Green Festival on June 6, bringing together environmental leaders, youth and community members to celebrate achievements, showcase local initiatives and encourage broader participation in sustainability efforts.
Award categories include:
- Environmental Legacy Award – Honours an individual with long-standing personal contributions to advancing the Grow Green Vision. Presented once per council term, the award includes the planting of a memorial tree in a park of the recipient’s choice.
- Climate Change Award – Recognizes leadership in climate change mitigation or adaptation awareness and outreach, with awards presented to an individual and to a business or organization.
- Stewardship Award – Celebrates initiatives focused on conservation and stewardship of trees, natural heritage, water resources or waste reduction, with awards for an individual and for a business or organization.
- Environmental Youth Award – Honours a youth or youth group making significant contributions to environmental protection, climate action or sustainability in Brampton.
Nominations are open to individuals, businesses and organizations across the city, and residents are encouraged to nominate others whose work is making a positive environmental impact.
Key dates:
- Nomination period: January to March 15, 2026
- Review and selection: Early April 2026
- Report to council: Mid to late April 2026 (to be confirmed)
- Recipient notification: Early May 2026
- Awards ceremony: June 6, 2026
