The City of Brampton invites residents to recognize and celebrate outstanding members of the community by nominating them for the 2024 Brampton Citizen Awards. This annual program honours exceptional contributions made by individuals in sports, arts, volunteerism, and community service, showcasing the talent and dedication that define Brampton.
Since its inception in 1975, the Citizen Awards have celebrated Brampton residents who embody excellence and community spirit. From inspiring volunteers and courageous heroes to accomplished athletes and renowned artists, the awards highlight those who go above and beyond to make Brampton a stronger, more vibrant city.

Award categories include the Sports Achievement Award, which recognizes residents whose accomplishments have been celebrated at Provincial, National, or International levels, and the Ken Giles Amateur Athlete of the Year Award, presented in partnership with the Brampton Guardian, to honour an amateur athlete’s significant contributions to their sport.
The Arts Acclaim Award celebrates individuals whose artistic efforts have earned recognition locally, provincially, nationally, or internationally, while the Long Term Service Award acknowledges dedicated volunteers who have advanced recreational sports, the arts, or community social services.
The Inspirational Award honours residents who demonstrate humane actions and inspire others through their advocacy and influence. The Emergency Services Award of Valour, selected by Brampton Fire and Emergency Services, Peel Regional Police, and Peel Paramedics, recognizes individuals who have risked their own lives to save others.
The prestigious Citizen of the Year Award, presented in Youth, Adult, and Senior Citizen categories, acknowledges individuals who demonstrate exceptional all-around community involvement, making Brampton a better place for all.
Nominations are now open, and residents are encouraged to participate in this meaningful tradition of celebrating community heroes. The deadline for submissions is January 10, 2025.
