The City of Brampton has been recognized by Forbes as one of Canada’s Best Employers 2026, underscoring the City’s commitment to a people-first workplace that nurtures talent, advances inclusion and supports innovation.
The recognition highlights Brampton’s competitive benefits and defined pension plan through OMERS, as well as its strong focus on employee growth and development. In 2025, the City expanded professional learning and wellness opportunities, launched a Mentorship Program to build leadership from within, hosted its second Career Development Day with participation from more than 10 post-secondary institutions, and offered resume writing and interview skills workshops. Employees also benefited from ongoing internal learning sessions and financial assistance for external education through the City’s Education Assistance Program.
Equity, diversity and inclusion remain central to the City’s culture. In 2025, Brampton released its first Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Strategy (2025–2026), reinforcing commitments to remove systemic barriers and foster belonging. The City also expanded its Employee Resource Groups to four, including the Black Employee Engagement Network (BEEN), Women Empowerment Network (WEN), Brampton Muslim Network (BMN), and Supporting Pride, Advocacy, Representation, and Kinship (SPARK).
Forbes’ annual Canada’s Best Employers list is developed with Statista and is based on an independent survey of more than 37,000 employees at Canadian organizations with 500 or more staff.
