The City of Brampton is observing Fire Prevention Week from October 5 to 11, 2025, with a series of events and community activities led by Brampton Fire and Emergency Services. The campaign began with a kickoff on October 4 and will continue throughout the month with open houses, public displays, and educational engagements across the city.
This year’s theme, “Charge into Fire Safety: Lithium-Ion Batteries in Your Home,” emphasizes the importance of using and disposing of batteries safely to prevent fires in daily life. Lithium-ion batteries are found in many common household devices, and if mishandled, they can present serious fire risks.
Residents are encouraged to follow key safety guidelines, including purchasing only tested and certified products, charging devices safely, disposing of or recycling batteries properly, and avoiding overcharging.
Several open houses and community events are planned throughout October to give residents hands-on opportunities to learn more about fire safety. These include open houses at fire stations across the city and appearances at local Home Depot locations and the Brampton Farmers’ Market. Residents can meet Brampton Fire personnel, view safety demonstrations, and pick up practical fire prevention tips.
Fire Prevention Week is part of the city’s broader year-round commitment to fire safety, which also includes encouraging families to test smoke alarms regularly and create escape plans for their homes.
