Free community events welcome the Year of the Horse with culture, cuisine and family-friendly festivities
BRAMPTON, ON (January 28, 2026) — The City of Brampton is inviting residents and visitors to ring in Lunar New Year 2026 with two free, family-friendly celebrations at Brampton City Hall, marking the arrival of the Year of the Horse.
The events will highlight cultural performances, traditional food and community connection, celebrating the diverse East and Southeast Asian cultures that help shape Brampton’s vibrant identity.

Vietnamese Lunar New Year (Tết) Celebration
Date: Sunday, February 1, 2026
Time: 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.

Residents are invited to enjoy an afternoon of live cultural performances, free traditional Vietnamese cuisine and community celebration.
This event is presented in partnership with Saigon Park Group Brampton.

Lunar New Year Celebration
Date: Thursday, February 26, 2026
Time: 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
Location: Brampton City Hall Atrium

The evening will feature live cultural performances, including a traditional Lion Dance, along with free traditional cuisine provided by Mandarin Restaurants.
This celebration is hosted in partnership with the Brampton Chinese Business Association (BCBA) and generously sponsored by Algoma University and Mandarin Restaurants.

Lunar New Year is celebrated by many East and Southeast Asian communities and marks the beginning of a new year based on the lunar calendar and the 12 zodiac animals. It is known as the Spring Festival in China, Tết in Vietnam and Seollal in Korea.
Since 2019, the City of Brampton has proudly hosted Lunar New Year celebrations in partnership with community organizations, creating opportunities for residents to experience cultural traditions and strengthen community connections.
