City of Brampton Introduces Gateless Parking System in Downtown Garages

The City of Brampton is modernizing its downtown parking garages by introducing a new gateless parking system designed to enhance security, improve efficiency, and reduce congestion at entry points. As part of this upgrade, the City will also reinstate paid parking in these garages, effective March 3, 2025.

First two hours free for all users Affordable rates: $1 per half-hour, with a daily maximum of $9 Hours of operation: Monday to Friday, 9 AM – 7 PM Free parking on weekends and holidays

The upgraded system will be implemented across the following City-owned parking garages:
John Street Parking Garage (16 John St.)

West Tower Parking Garage (41 George St. S.)

City Hall Parking Garage (2 Wellington St. W.)

Market Square Parking Garage (1 Theatre Ln.)
Nelson Square Parking Garage (2 Diplock Ln.)

These garages offer accessible parking spaces, electric vehicle charging stations, and bike racks to accommodate a variety of users.

When contacted for his comments, Regional Councillor Paul Vicente praised the initiative, emphasizing the benefits for residents and businesses.

“The modernization of downtown Brampton’s parking garages is a necessary step in improving accessibility, security, and overall user experience. This new gateless system will reduce congestion at entry points and provide a seamless parking experience for residents, businesses, and visitors. With the first two hours free and competitive rates, this system balances affordability with innovation while ensuring that our downtown remains a vibrant and welcoming destination,” said Vicente.
