City of Brampton Celebrates Seniors Month with Free Annual Recreation Memberships for 70+ Residents and Special Events

The City of Brampton is excited to announce the celebration of Seniors Month this June, a dedicated time to honor the invaluable contributions and achievements of our elder residents. Throughout the month, the City will host a variety of free drop-in programs, special events, and activities to recognize and appreciate local seniors.

Brampton proudly serves as home to more than 245,000 residents aged 55 and older. Seniors Month provides an opportunity to show our gratitude and support for their ongoing involvement and engagement. Seniors play a crucial role in our community, sharing their wisdom, experience, and talents to help create a vibrant city for everyone.

The City of Brampton is committed to ensuring that local seniors can enjoy a high quality of life with dignity and grace in the community they call home. The City offers a range of programs and services tailored to meet the diverse needs of Brampton’s seniors, including free transit passes, snow removal assistance, and now, free recreation memberships.

In honor of Brampton’s 50th anniversary since its incorporation in 1974, the City is gifting eligible seniors aged 70 and older with a free Annual Recreation Membership starting June 1, 2024. Eligible residents can visit any City of Brampton Recreation Centre to verify their eligibility.

Mayor Patrick Brown expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming events, stating, “Seniors are the backbone of our community, and Seniors Month is our opportunity to celebrate their contributions. Through free drop-in programs, special events, and offering free Annual Recreation Memberships to our 70+ residents as a token of our appreciation, we aim to show our gratitude.”

Rowena Santos, Regional Councillor, Wards 1 & 5, and Chair of Community Services, added, “Seniors Month is a time to recognize and appreciate the significant role our senior residents play in shaping Brampton’s vibrant community. We want to ensure our seniors feel valued and supported. Join us in celebrating and supporting our seniors as we commemorate this special month with free 70+ Annual Recreation Memberships and exciting events.”
