Chaos on First Day Back: Over 500 Peel School Buses Running Late

Students across Mississauga and Brampton were met with frustration on the first day of school as more than 500 buses in the Peel Region ran behind schedule, with some delays stretching up to an hour.

By 9 a.m., parents were already receiving notices that hundreds of routes were affected, leaving many students waiting at stops far longer than expected. The Student Transportation of Peel Region advised families to check its website for live updates as the situation unfolded.

In a statement posted online, the bus service acknowledged the widespread delays, attributing them to data discrepancies that caused a surge in last-minute transportation requests. “As a result, some busing assignments may not be finalized by the first day of school,” the company explained.

The service urged parents and guardians to continue monitoring updates throughout the day as crews worked to resolve the disruptions.
