The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has announced the recall of raw, unshelled pistachios sold at Kim Natural Food, located at 219 Roncesvalles Avenue in Toronto, due to potential salmonella contamination. The products were sold between September 11 and 19, 2025.
The recall comes as part of a broader national investigation into a salmonella outbreak linked to pistachios. To date, 105 cases of illness have been confirmed across Canada, including 16 hospitalizations. Since July, the CFIA has issued 27 recalls for pistachios and pistachio-containing products.
As an additional precaution, the CFIA has temporarily banned the import of pistachio products from Iran, where many recalled products originated. The agency stressed this step was necessary to “protect Canadians from the risk of Salmonella infection.”
Consumers are advised to check their homes for the recalled pistachios and not to consume, serve, use, sell, or distribute them. Products should be safely discarded or returned to the store where they were purchased.
Anyone who suspects they have become ill after eating the recalled pistachios should contact a healthcare provider immediately.
The CFIA continues to investigate and warns that additional recalls may follow as the situation develops.
