Canadian Police Charge Three Men With Firearms Offences Amid Security Concerns

In a major crackdown, Canadian authorities have arrested three individuals, including Inderjeet Singh Gosal, a close aide of U.S.-based extremist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun. The arrests, which took place during a traffic stop operation in Oshawa, Ontario, on September 19, 2025

Police confirmed that 36-year-old Gosal from Caledon, 41-year-old Jagdeep Singh from Pickville, New York, and 23-year-old Arman Singh from Toronto were charged with multiple firearms-related offences, including careless use of a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. The trio appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice in Oshawa on Monday. Authorities noted that the investigation remains ongoing, with the accused facing the possibility of further charges and prison terms.

Gosal, long considered the right-hand man of Khalistani leader Pannun, rose to prominence within the banned Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) organization after the killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar in June 2023. He was previously arrested in November 2024 for a violent altercation at the Hindu Sabha Mandir in Brampton but was conditionally released.

The arrests come just a day after high-level security talks in New Delhi between India’s National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and Canadian NSA Nathalie Drouin. During the discussions, Doval urged Canada to take firm action against Khalistani elements involved in anti-India extremism. The move is widely seen as a significant departure from Ottawa’s earlier tolerance of separatist groups operating under the guise of free speech, and as a potential step toward repairing strained bilateral relations.
