A group of Canadian Members of Parliament has strongly condemned U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent suggestion to “clean out” Gaza, calling it a blatant violation of international law and an endorsement of ethnic cleansing.
In a unified statement, the MPs described Trump’s remarks as “preposterous” and urged the Government of Canada to take a firm stance against such rhetoric. They emphasized that peace in the region can only be achieved through a two-state solution, ensuring a secure and prosperous Palestine alongside a safe and thriving Israel.
“The Gaza Strip is an integral part of a future Palestinian state,” the statement read, underscoring the need for diplomatic efforts rather than forced displacement.
MP Shafqat Ali (Brampton Centre) reiterated the importance of Canada’s role in advocating for peace and justice:
“Canada has always stood for human rights and international law. President Trump’s comments are not only dangerous but undermine the very principles of peace and coexistence. We call on our government to unequivocally reject such rhetoric and reaffirm our support for a just and lasting resolution for both Palestinians and Israelis.”
The statement was jointly issued by:
- Hon. Ahmed Hussen, MP (York South—Weston)
- Hon. Arif Virani, MP (Parkdale—High Park)
- Hon. Omar Alghabra, MP (Mississauga Centre)
- Shafqat Ali, MP (Brampton Centre)
- Iqra Khalid, MP (Mississauga—Erin Mills)
- Yasir Naqvi, MP (Ottawa Centre)
- Taleeb Noormohamed, MP (Vancouver Granville)
- Salma Zahid, MP (Scarborough Centre)
- Sameer Zuberi, MP (Pierrefonds—Dollard)
The MPs reaffirmed Canada’s commitment to upholding human rights and international law, calling for immediate action to prevent further escalation in the region.
