Canadian International Air Show Returns: Fighter Jets to Dazzle Skies Over Toronto and Mississauga

The skies above Toronto and Mississauga will roar this Labour Day weekend as the Canadian International Air Show (CIAS), North America’s longest-running air show, takes flight once again.

Now in its 76th year, the annual tradition will feature a lineup of crowd favourites and high-powered performers, including the Canadian Forces Snowbirds, Canada’s CF-18 Demonstration Team, and the U.S. Air Force F-35 Demonstration Team.

The main event runs Saturday through Monday from noon to 3:40 p.m., with Friday set aside as a practice day when spectators may also catch glimpses of the performers in action. Aircraft are stationed at both Toronto Pearson Airport in Mississauga and Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport, flying into the waterfront show site over Lake Ontario each day.

Executive director Lori Duthie said the show is about more than aerobatics—it’s a generational tradition. “This event has been part of the city’s story for more than 75 years. It’s always an honour to see families come together to experience it,” she said.

First held in 1946, the Canadian International Air Show now attracts more than one million spectators annually, combining modern military jets, vintage warbirds, aerobatic stunts, and historical tributes. Organizers emphasize that all flights follow strict aviation regulations and are conducted with safety as the top priority.
