Canada’s Wonderland Introduces Chaperone Rule After Spike in Unruly Behavior

Canada’s Wonderland is rolling out a major policy shift ahead of its popular Halloween Haunt event, citing a rise in unruly and inappropriate behavior both at the park and in other entertainment venues across the industry.

Starting Sept. 26, the Vaughan amusement park will require all guests 15 and younger to be accompanied by a chaperone aged 21 or older in order to enter or remain in the park after 6 p.m. The policy, which runs through Nov. 1, gives the park the right to enforce the rule earlier in the day if necessary.

Chaperones will need to present valid government-issued photo identification at the entrance, and each can supervise up to 10 minors at a time. They must also remain with their group during the visit and be available by phone throughout the day. Guests 16 and older may be asked for ID to verify their age before entry.

In its announcement, the park emphasized that parents and guardians are ultimately responsible for the conduct of their children, and appropriate supervision is always expected. “We are committed to maintaining Canada’s Wonderland as a place where families and friends can come together to enjoy a one-of-a-kind park full of fun experiences and immersive entertainment,” the statement said.

Alongside the chaperone rule, the park will introduce stricter bag restrictions during Halloween Haunt, a move intended to further enhance safety.

Canada’s Wonderland has not detailed the incidents that prompted the changes, but the decision comes after several disruptions at major attractions across North America. Officials say the updated policy will help ensure that the park remains a safe and enjoyable experience for all visitors.
