Canada’s Music Scene Heats Up: Massive Free Festival Rocks Burlington This Weekend

Music lovers are in for a treat as the Sound of Music Festival returns to Burlington’s scenic waterfront from June 12 to 15, bringing with it a jam-packed lineup of Canadian talent and family-friendly festivities.

Spencer Smith Park will be transformed into a musical haven for four days, headlined by iconic performers including Big Wreck, David Wilcox, Steven Page, Junkhouse, and Joel Plaskett Emergency. Nearly 60 acts will hit the festival’s three stages, delivering a distinctly Canadian soundtrack to what’s widely recognized as the country’s largest free outdoor music event.

The Sound of Music Festival, which first launched in 1980, is a summer staple in Southern Ontario and draws tens of thousands of fans each year. Beyond the main stage shows, the city’s downtown core will come alive with a street festival and the lively SOM parade, set to march through Burlington at 11 a.m. on Saturday.

Also part of the festival experience is a bustling midway filled with carnival rides, games, and food vendors, offering something for every member of the family.

Due to the popularity of the event, lakefront parking will be in short supply. However, Burlington Centre Mall will serve as a park-and-ride location, with shuttle buses transporting visitors to and from the festival site all weekend long.

Motorists should also plan ahead, as several road closures—including a large portion of Lakeshore Road—are expected to cause traffic congestion around the downtown area.

For full event details, including shuttle schedules, parade routes, and a list of performers, visitors are encouraged to check the Sound of Music Festival’s official website.
