Canada’s Largest Outdoor Light Festival Opens in Niagara Falls This Weekend

Niagara Falls, ON — The Winter Festival of Lights, Canada’s largest outdoor light festival, returns for its 43rd year this weekend, transforming Niagara Falls into a dazzling winter wonderland with over three million lights, 75+ displays, and 21 nights of fireworks, Niagara Parks announced Friday.

The free, family-friendly festival is presented by Niagara Falls Tourism, in partnership with the Niagara Falls Canada Hotel Association and Niagara Parks.

The festival runs from Nov. 15, 2025 to Jan. 4, 2026.

New Illuminations and Interactive Installations

Visitors can stroll the 8-kilometre festival route and explore 25 new light displays, including giant snowflakes, whimsical wildlife, and Canadiana favourites such as a glowing toque and maple leaf.

This year also features four major interactive exhibits, some previously showcased at globally renowned events like Burning Man and Montreal’s Igloofest:

  • Light Anemones by Malte Kebbel — kinetic sculptures illuminating the waters around Dufferin Islands
  • Radiant by Rob Jensen & the Radiant Crew — an immersive art-and-light tunnel near the Niagara Parks Power Station
  • Roseaux (powered by Creos) — rhythmic, motion-triggered illuminated reeds
  • Cosmic Wolf by Ryan Longo — a steel wolf sculpture projecting blue light into the night outside Queen Victoria Place

Laser Light Spectacular & Fireworks

Every Friday and Saturday from Nov. 15 to Dec. 20, the Queen Victoria Park event field will host the Laser Light Spectacular, featuring high-powered lasers, choreographed smoke effects, and an energetic soundtrack.

After Dec. 25, laser shows run nightly from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., with several performances each evening, culminating in a special New Year’s Eve finale.

Fireworks are scheduled over 21 nights throughout the festival.

Additional attractions include:

  • Annual Poinsettia Show
  • Hot Chocolate Trail
  • Coca-Cola Holiday Caravan on Nov. 27–28, offering free photos with Santa and product samples at Queen Victoria Place

Throughout December, extended indoor hours (12 p.m.–8 p.m.) and special lighting activations will enhance the festive atmosphere.
