Celebrating global culture, food, and community with over two dozen nations represented
MISSISSAUGA — Mississauga is set to burst into a celebration of global culture this weekend as the Carassauga Festival of Cultures returns for its 40th anniversary, proudly billed as Canada’s largest multicultural festival.
Running Saturday, May 24 and Sunday, May 25, the beloved city-wide celebration features pavilions representing more than two dozen countries, showcasing the rich tapestry of traditions, cuisines, music, dance, and artistry that define Canada’s cultural mosaic.
From Egypt to Ireland, India to Portugal, and China to Poland, visitors will have the chance to explore a world of experiences without leaving Mississauga. The festival takes place across multiple venues, including the Paramount Fine Foods Centre, Canadian Coptic Centre, Portuguese Cultural Centre, St. Sava Serbian Centre, and Frank McKechnie Community Centre.
“Carassauga has grown into one of the most important and anticipated events on Mississauga’s annual calendar,” organizers shared. “Each year, tens of thousands of visitors come to immerse themselves in the music, dress, dance, and culinary traditions of cultures from around the globe.”
This year’s milestone edition promises even more excitement, with performances, artisan showcases, and culinary delights planned throughout both days. Festival hours are noon to 11 p.m. on Saturday and noon to 7 p.m. on Sunday.
Admission is $15 per person, with children aged 12 and under admitted free. All-access Carassauga passports allow entry to all pavilions and include free transportation via MiWay and Carassauga shuttle buses between festival sites during operating hours.
As the unofficial launch of Mississauga’s festival season, which stretches through to September, Carassauga continues to be a beacon of inclusivity and celebration—highlighting the city’s identity as one of the most diverse in the country.
