Canadians are turning out in historic numbers ahead of Election Day.
Elections Canada has confirmed that a record-breaking 7.3 million voters cast their ballots during advance polls held between Friday and Monday — marking a 25% increase compared to early voting in the 2021 federal election.
The unprecedented turnout prompted Elections Canada to make real-time adjustments to accommodate long lines reported at several polling locations over the long weekend.
Eligible voters still have until 6 p.m. today to vote early at any Elections Canada office across the country.
With less than a week to go until Canadians head to the polls on April 28, party leaders are fanning out across the country to make their closing arguments in what’s shaping up to be one of the most closely watched federal elections in recent history.
Stay tuned for continuing election coverage and voter turnout updates.
