Canada Reaffirms Unwavering Support for Ukraine on Third Anniversary of Full-Scale Invasion

As the world marks the third anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Canada has reaffirmed its steadfast support for Ukraine’s sovereignty, democracy, and people.

Ruby Sahota, Minister of Democratic Institutions, in a message shared on social media, honored the resilience, courage, and sacrifices of the Ukrainian people, expressing solidarity with those affected by the ongoing war.

“We stand in solidarity with those who have lost their lives, those who continue to fight, and those forced to flee their homes. We recognize the sacrifices made every day—not only on the front lines but by every Ukrainian who refuses to surrender their identity, their freedom, and their democratic future.”

Since the beginning of the invasion in 2022, Canada has been at the forefront of international efforts to support Ukraine, providing:
Military aid, including weapons, equipment, and training for Ukrainian forces
Humanitarian assistance, helping refugees and displaced families
Economic sanctions against Russia, targeting key sectors and individuals responsible for the aggression
Financial aid, to stabilize Ukraine’s economy and infrastructure

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has consistently reiterated Canada’s commitment to standing with Ukraine, with the government pledging additional military and humanitarian assistance in recent months.

Minister Sahota emphasized that despite Ukraine’s remarkable resilience, the war is far from over. However, she assured the Ukrainian community in Canada and worldwide that they are not alone.

“Your resilience inspires us all. Your fight is our fight. And together, we will continue to stand with Ukraine until peace, justice, and sovereignty are fully restored.”

As Minister of Democratic Institutions, Sahota highlighted the importance of protecting Ukraine’s democratic future, emphasizing Canada’s ongoing role in supporting free and fair governance in the war-torn nation.

The Canadian government has vowed to continue its diplomatic, financial, and military support for Ukraine, working alongside NATO allies and the international community to:

  • Strengthen Ukraine’s defensive capabilities
  • Provide long-term reconstruction aid
  • Hold Russia accountable for war crimes and human rights violations

The message from Canadian leaders comes as Ukraine continues to resist Russian aggression with global support, making it clear that Canada stands firm in its commitment to Ukraine’s freedom and sovereignty.
