Canada Reaches New Heights: SkyTower Hits 100-Storey Milestone at Toronto’s Waterfront

Canada’s tallest building has officially reached the 100-storey mark, reshaping Toronto’s iconic skyline and marking a major milestone in Canadian architectural history.

The Pinnacle SkyTower, rising from the prime lakefront location of 1 Yonge Street, invited reporters this week to tour its newly completed 100th floor—a level offering a breathtaking, close-up view of the CN Tower.

Once completed, the SkyTower will climb to 106 storeys and house 958 residential units, making it the tallest residential tower ever built in Canada.

A Landmark 13 Years in the Making

“We’ve been working on this project for 13 years,” said Anson Kwok, Vice-President of Sales and Marketing at Pinnacle International. “Being the first building in Canada to reach 100 storeys is quite the milestone.”

Kwok added that ultra-tall development is one solution to Canada’s ongoing housing crisis, making efficient use of existing downtown infrastructure to bring more residents into the core.

Transforming the Toronto Skyline

From its 100th floor, the tower already rises above almost every major skyscraper in the city—including the long-standing tallest completed building, First Canadian Place, which has held the title since 1975 at 72 storeys.

When finished, the SkyTower’s upper floors will sit nearly level with the CN Tower’s observation deck, offering residents truly world-class views.

“This adds a new character to Toronto’s skyline,” Kwok said. Residential balconies will reach up to the 88th floor.

Completion Expected in 2026

Construction is expected to wrap up by 2026, with residents moving into the lower floors as early as next summer.

The SkyTower forms part of the larger One Yonge redevelopment, which also includes several new high-rise buildings and the historic Toronto Star building. The developer confirmed this week that the former Star headquarters will be converted into a hotel rather than demolished.
