Canada Issues Recall for Thousands of Potentially Dangerous Printers

Health Canada has issued a recall for thousands of Lexmark specialty printers sold in Canada, warning that they pose a potential fire risk.

The recall affects 4,096 units of Lexmark printers sold in Canada between June 2018 and November 2024. An additional 43,500 units were sold in the United States.

Health Canada reported that a metal part inside the printers may dislodge, creating a risk of overheating and fire.

While no incidents or injuries have been reported in Canada, the United States has seen two incidents of overheating, including one reported fire. Fortunately, no injuries have occurred.

The recalled printers are Lexmark models MS725dvn and MX725adve, identifiable by their distinctive design:

  • White front panel
  • Black top and side panels
  • The model number can be located on the top cover or door of the printer.

Consumers are advised to:

  1. Immediately stop using the printers.
  2. Contact Lexmark to arrange for a free repair part.

Lexmark can be reached at:

The printers were manufactured in China and Mexico and distributed in both Canada and the United States.

Health Canada emphasizes the importance of addressing the issue promptly to ensure safety.
