Goaltender Marilou Grenier was stellar, making 14 saves to record the shutout, while Canada’s offense overwhelmed the U.S. with a 30-14 shot advantage. Caileigh Tiller opened the scoring with a power-play goal in the first period, setting the tone for the game. In the third period, Dorothy Copetti and Stryker Zablocki each found the back of the net to solidify the win. Sydney Sawyer contributed two assists, further showcasing Canada’s depth and teamwork.
The win capped off a strong tournament for Canada, which earned its spot in the final by defeating Czechia 4-2 in the semifinals. Earlier on Sunday, Czechia claimed the bronze medal with a narrow 2-1 victory over Sweden.
This championship victory not only highlights the immense talent within Canada’s women’s hockey program but also serves as a beacon of inspiration for the next generation of athletes.
