Butter Bandit Busted: Brampton Man Charged After $600 Dairy Heist

A Brampton man has been charged after allegedly returning to the scene of a dairy heist where approximately $600 worth of butter was stolen, according to Ontario Provincial Police.

The theft occurred on May 28 at a store in Orangeville, where police say a suspect made off with a large quantity of butter by fleeing through a fire exit. Authorities say the suspect later returned to the same store, where loss prevention officers recognized him and took him into custody.

The Dufferin OPP confirmed that 31-year-old Amandeep-Singh Padda of Brampton has been charged with one count of theft under $5,000 – shoplifting. He is expected to appear in court in Orangeville at a later date.

This incident is part of a broader trend involving thefts of butter and ghee across Ontario. Just last year, police charged two men from Brampton and one from Caledon after a $1,000 dairy theft spree in the South Georgian Bay area. In another case, nearly $8,000 worth of butter and ghee were reported stolen.
