Brampton’s 2025 Sports Legends: Six Local Icons Join Hall of Fame

The City of Brampton is rolling out the red carpet for six hometown heroes as they take their place in the 2025 Brampton Sports Hall of Fame. These standout individuals have left an indelible mark on sports locally and beyond, and the city is gearing up for a grand induction ceremony to celebrate their achievements. Tickets for the event are now up for grabs—don’t miss out!

Meet the 2025 inductees shaking up Brampton’s sports legacy:

Builder, Ice Hockey
Ron Noonan’s name is synonymous with Brampton sports. From leading Chinguacousy Minor Hockey as president (1995-1997) to shaping the Ontario Minor Hockey Association as Chair of Coaching Programs (2015), his influence runs deep. With awards like the OMHA Trophy named in his honor and the 2005 Ontario Hockey Federation Volunteer of the Year title under his belt, Noonan’s legacy shines. Since 2004, he’s been the guardian of the Brampton Sports Hall of Fame, ensuring the city’s sports history stays alive.

Builder, Boxing
Raymond Rutter has punched his way into Canadian boxing history—and now into the Brampton Sports Hall of Fame. Over three decades, he guided 15 champs, including 10 Canadian, four Commonwealth, and one world titleholder. Launching Canadastar Boxing Inc. in 1990, he brought blockbuster fights to screens via TSN, HBO, and Showtime. A 1995 International Boxing Federation honoree and former pro judge (2015-2016), Rutter’s mentorship of Brampton’s youth keeps the sport swinging strong.

Builder, Cycling
George Shepperdley has been cycling circles around Brampton for decades, earning his spot in the Sports Hall of Fame. A co-founder of Bike Brampton (2013) and a driving force behind the Brampton Cycling Advisory Committee, he’s also a former president of the Brampton Cycling Club (1998-2002). With provincial and national medals to his name, Shepperdley, now in his 80s, logged 4,300 kilometers across Peel Region in 2024 alone. His tireless advocacy keeps Brampton on two wheels.

Athlete, Lacrosse
Brian Beisel’s lacrosse resume is a highlight reel: five Mann Cup finals (with two victories), a 1996 Minto Cup, and a 2005 NLL Champions Cup. Scoring 125 points across 124 NLL games, he’s a force on and off the field. As a coach, he clinched the 2019 NLL title with the Calgary Roughnecks and notched provincial and national wins. A Brampton junior hockey alum and 15-year Memorial Arena veteran, Beisel’s contributions are a slam dunk for the Hall.

Athlete, Basketball
Patrick Tatham’s journey from Chinguacousy Secondary MVP to NCAA star at Cleveland State and pro baller overseas is Hall of Fame-worthy. As a coach, he made history at Ryerson University (now Toronto Metropolitan University), winning its first OUA title in 2016 and becoming the first Black CIS Coach of the Year. Now leading McMaster University and earning international medals with Basketball Canada, Tatham joins his sister Tamara (2022 inductee) in cementing a family dynasty in Brampton hoops.

Normen Cadorin: Baseball’s Unsung Umpire Extraordinaire

Veteran, Baseball
The late Normen Giovanni Cadorin steps up to the plate posthumously as a Brampton Sports Hall of Fame inductee. As umpire-in-chief for Brampton Minor Baseball Inc., he revolutionized youth officiating with a tiered certification system. Awards like the 1997 Dick Willis Award and a City of Brampton Longtime Service Award reflect his dedication. A 38-year Toronto Police officer, Cadorin’s legacy in baseball and beyond swings for the fences.
