Brampton Transit Fares Set to Rise February 9 as New Prices Take Effect

Brampton Transit riders will see higher fares beginning February 9, as the city implements a system-wide fare increase affecting adults, youth, and non-resident seniors, including those using the Argo pilot service.

The fare adjustment represents an increase of approximately five per cent and applies to both cash payments and PRESTO-based fares. Riders paying by cash or contactless credit and debit cards will see the single-ride fare rise from $4.50 to $4.75.

For adults between the ages of 20 and 64, PRESTO e-Purse fares will increase from $3.40 to $3.55 per ride. Weekly PRESTO passes will rise from $37.50 to $39.50, while monthly passes will increase from $141.25 to $148.50.

Youth riders aged 13 to 19 will also see modest increases. PRESTO e-Purse fares will rise from $2.80 to $2.95 per ride, weekly passes will increase from $30.25 to $31.75, and monthly passes will go up from $118.00 to $123.75.

Non-Brampton resident seniors aged 65 and older using PRESTO will see their per-ride fare increase slightly from $1.75 to $1.85. However, a customer loyalty program remains in place, allowing riders who pay for 12 single trips within a Monday-to-Sunday period to ride free for the remainder of that week.

The fare changes will not affect children under the age of 12, who continue to ride free, nor will they impact Brampton senior residents. Local seniors will continue to benefit from the city’s free annual transit pass program, which has been in place since 2022.

Brampton Transit continues to emphasize accessible and reliable service as ridership grows across the city. In 2024 alone, the transit system served more than 43 million riders, reflecting its expanding role in connecting residents to work, school, and community destinations throughout Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area.

Riders are encouraged to plan ahead and review updated fare details before travelling after February 9.
