Brampton Transit Announces Major Route and Schedule Changes Starting September 2

The City of Brampton has announced a series of transit service changes that will take effect on Tuesday, September 2, coinciding with the first day of classes for elementary and secondary school students. The adjustments are aimed at improving service reliability, expanding coverage, and introducing new routes.

Among the updates, several routes will see realignments and frequency changes. The 511/511C Züm Steeles route will have modified weekday and weekend trips to Amazon to enhance reliability, while the 2 Main, 8 Centre, 9 Vodden, 12 Grenoble, 16 Southgate, 29/29A Williams, 31/31A McVean, 36 Gardenbrook, and 115 Airport Express will all see revised schedules.

Notable modifications include the 3/3A McLaughlin route, which will now service Sandalwood Loop instead of Heart Lake Terminal, with adjusted frequencies across weekdays and weekends. On the 4/4C Chinguacousy line, Route 4A will be removed, while a new 4C route will extend service along Brisdale Drive, Wanless Drive, and Chinguacousy Road, offering more frequent weekday and weekend trips.

The city is also introducing Route 28A Wanless to service Remembrance Road, while realigning Route 28 to include Wanless Drive and Heart Lake Terminal. Both routes will now operate with all-day service throughout the week and weekends, beginning early in the morning and ending in the evening, with improved frequency.

Other significant changes include new school and employment-focused trips. The 17 Howden route will have added southbound afternoon trips to better align with school dismissal times at North Park Secondary School, while the 20 East Industrial will introduce late-night trips to Summerlea Road. The 23 Sandalwood route will add a new eastbound trip at 1:41 p.m. from Mount Pleasant GO, and the 104 Chinguacousy Express will now run all day with two-way travel during weekdays.

Brampton Transit has also confirmed that the 199 UTM Express will resume, providing direct service between Brampton Gateway Terminal and the University of Toronto’s Mississauga campus with multiple departures in both directions throughout the day. Additionally, all School Special routes numbered 200–218 will return on September 2 to support student travel.

These comprehensive updates are designed to meet the growing demand for public transit in Brampton while improving reliability and ensuring that routes better serve the needs of both daily commuters and students.
