The City of Brampton has secured a landmark investment of over $174 million from federal and provincial governments to expand its public transit infrastructure. The project, involving the construction of a new transit maintenance and storage facility, is expected to bolster the city’s transit network while paving the way for a future shift towards electrification.
The announcement was made by key leaders, including Mayor Patrick Brown, MP Maninder Sidhu, MPP Amarjot Sandhu, and Ontario Minister Prabmeet Sarkaria. They highlighted the significance of the project for Brampton’s long-term growth, sustainability, and job creation.

The federal government is contributing $69.9 million, while Ontario is providing $58.2 million, with the City of Brampton committing an additional $46.6 million.
