Brampton Opens Cooling Centres, Splash Pads Amid Heat Warning

BRAMPTON — With Peel Public Health issuing a Heat Warning for Brampton starting Saturday, August 9, 2025, the City of Brampton has rolled out multiple heat relief measures to help residents cope with soaring temperatures.

All public access buildings — including City Hall, recreation centres, and libraries — are open during regular business hours as designated cooling locations. The city’s 18 splash pads are also operating daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., and the Chinguacousy Park wading pool is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., weather permitting.

Officials are urging residents to limit outdoor activity, stay hydrated, and seek air-conditioned or shaded spaces. Vulnerable groups, including seniors and young children, are at higher risk, and residents are encouraged to check in on family, friends, and neighbours.

Pet owners are reminded to keep animals indoors during peak heat, avoid hot pavement, and ensure a constant supply of fresh water. Safety guidelines also extend to water activities, with calls for close supervision of children, use of life jackets, and secure fencing around pools.
