Construction Worker Plans to Pay Off Mortgage After Life-Changing Win

BRAMPTON, ON – A Brampton man’s dream came true after winning a $1-million Maxmillions prize in the Dec. 3, 2024, Lotto Max draw.

Jagmohan Dhillon, a long-time lottery player and father of three, purchased his winning ticket at New York News on Stone Church Road East in Stoney Creek. The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) confirmed his win, marking his first major lottery prize after playing weekly for 15 years.

“I was at the store when I decided to check my tickets. When I saw the prize amount, I was so happy I nearly cried,” said Dhillon. “It was a crazy moment that left me in shock. I’m thrilled and feel so fortunate to have won this prize.”

Dhillon, who works in construction, regularly plays Lotto Max and Lotto 6-49 using OLG’s Quick Pick feature.

His first priority? Paying off his mortgage, a decision that will provide long-term financial stability for his family.
