Brampton Man Charged in Connection with Multiple Sexual Assaults Involving Women at Bus Stops

Arshdeep Singh, 22, of Brampton, Arrested Following Investigations into Three Sexual Assault Incidents

Peel Regional Police have arrested and charged Arshdeep Singh, a 22-year-old Brampton resident, in connection with three sexual assaults targeting women waiting at bus stops in Brampton earlier this month. Investigators allege the suspect spoke Punjabi to the victims during each incident and believe he is responsible for all three assaults.

Incident Details:

  • Friday, November 8, 2024, at 7:00 a.m.:
    A woman waiting at a bus stop near Countryside Drive and Bramalea Road in Brampton was approached by the suspect in a black four-door sedan, who claimed to be a rideshare operator. She was driven to Highway 27 and Nashville Road in Vaughan, where the assault occurred.
  • Friday, November 8, 2024, at 7:43 a.m.:
    Another woman waiting near Goreridge Crescent and Via Romano Way in Brampton encountered a similar scenario. She was driven to Highway 50, south of Gore Road, and sexually assaulted.
  • Saturday, November 16, 2024, at 6:45 a.m.:
    A third victim was approached at Airport Road and Humberwest Parkway in Brampton. The suspect drove her to Countryside Drive, west of Airport Road, and sexually assaulted her.

Charges and Investigation

Arshdeep Singh has been charged with the following:

  • Kidnapping (3 counts)
  • Sexual Assault (multiple counts)
  • Sexual Assault with a Weapon
  • Sexual Assault by Strangulation
  • Robbery
  • Uttering Threats (2 counts)

He was held for a bail hearing and appeared at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.

Public Safety Advisory

Peel Regional Police urge the public to avoid accepting unsolicited rides from unknown individuals. “Thank you to the team of dedicated investigators who worked around the clock to make this arrest. We’ll keep doing everything we can to stop gender-based and sexual violence and hold those responsible accountable,” stated Deputy Chief Nick Milinovich, Peel Regional Police.

York Regional Police Deputy Chief Alvaro Almeida echoed the sentiment: “This is yet another example of a successful outcome as a result of cooperation between our two services.”
