Brampton Man Charged After Police Seize 50 Kilos of Meth on Saskatchewan Highway

A transport truck stopped for inspection on a Saskatchewan highway led to a major drug bust — and charges for two men, including one from Brampton.

According to the RCMP, the arrest took place on October 29 at a weigh scale along Highway 16 near Saskatoon. Officers with the Saskatchewan Highway Patrol discovered boxes filled with 46 kilograms of methamphetamine hidden inside the truck, along with 14 pallets of unstamped cigarettes.

Authorities say the seizure included more than 4 million unstamped cigarettes and enough meth to produce approximately 460,000 individual doses.

Two truck drivers, Jasvir Singh, 45, of Brampton, and Harbir Singh, 27, of Georgetown, were arrested and charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking (methamphetamine), possession of unstamped tobacco, and several related offences.

The investigation is ongoing, and police are appealing to the public for information. Anonymous tips can be shared with Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online at www.ontariocrimestoppers.ca, where tipsters may be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000.
